FAQ Page
1. What is reportage style photography?
In a nutshell, taking photographs without the subject really being aware of the photographer. It does not interfere with the subject, therefore creating a really natural, spontaneous image. This style of photography lends itself to capturing the true story of your unique day.
It also allows everybody to just get on with enjoying your day, rather than worrying about posing for the wedding photographer which, as you have probably experienced, can sometimes be extremely time consuming and intrusive. (Something which we avoid at all costs!)
2. What is traditional style photography?
What would probably be known as old fashioned shots, for instance, bride and father standing at the car, bride and bridesmaids outside the church door before going in for the ceremony, bride and groom looking at each other in the grounds, bride looking over her shoulder to show the back of the dress, bride and her mother etc. These are usually posed photographs with great backgrounds capturing everybody looking their best. These photographs are suitable to be framed to take pride of place on the fireplace or on the wall.
3. Are your packages fixed?
No these are sample ideas. We can meet your individual needs and pride ourselves on giving a professional specialist flexible service.
4. Would you be willing to travel to Italy to take our photographs?
Of course, we would be proud to. We would obviously need to discuss your requirements and the cost of flights, accommodation and meals would have to be borne by the bride and groom.
5. Would you be willing to stay until the very last dance?
Yes we would, however there would be extra cost implications. We would also require overnight accommodation and breakfast which would need to be paid for by the bride and groom.
6. Would we be able to tell you where we want our photographs taken?
Of course! I would suggest our first meeting is held at your chosen venue, so that we can discuss exactly where you would like your photographs to be taken, both inside and outside. It would be useful for you to think about making a list of those special ‘must have’ pictures, which could easily be forgotten on the day. We will ensure that they are taken for you.
7. What camera equipment is used on the day?
The latest Canon professional SLR camera, with back up Nikon are used to ensure the very best photographs are taken on the day. These pictures may be digitally enhanced afterwards to improve light, colour, tone and density. We could even add some special effects, if appropriate, to ensure you have the very best images available.
8. How many photographs are taken on the day?
This is a difficult one to answer. There is no set number - it really depends on the photo opportunities on the day. We ensure that we take all of the ‘posed’ photographs you ask for, but will take informal photographs throughout our time with you to capture those moments which make your day unique. Often these spontaneous impulsive photos end up being the couple’s favourites!
9. How do we ensure that all the photos we want are taken without boring our guests?
Leave that to us. You’re right - photographers can ruin the day by being far too intrusive. Each group photograph takes around 3 minutes to set up, so you only really want about 6 of these before everyone has had enough. With careful planning, it’s easy to let your guests continue to enjoy the day whilst photographs are being taken elsewhere at the venue or in the grounds. We aim to be discrete.
10. How do we choose the photographs for our album?
Each of the images taken on your day will be individually assessed for density, colour, tone, balance, cropping or even some special effects. The design and production of your album will be designed by us incorporating your views. For instance you may prefer all colour, some black and white or even sepia, even some contemporary work to create a unique album capturing your day.
11. Do you photograph same sex marriages?
Of course we do! Let us know your needs during our initial consultation.
12. What other photography do you do?
We do family portraits, pet portraits, special events to include birthdays, anniversaries, renewal of vows, commitment ceremonies, engagement, christenings as well as corporate and sporting events. Unusual suggestions are welcome!
13. What if the photographer is ill on the day?
Don’t worry – highly unlikely for two of us to be ill on the same day so there will always be one of us there and we’ll use a colleague.
